In 1970, Hiroko Matsumoto returned to the spotlight, but this time as an actress. She played the prominent role of Kyoko in the movie Bed and Board, directed by French director Francois Truffaut. Many of the dresses in the movie were designed by the fashion company Hanae Mori.

A few years later, Hiroko Matsumoto divorced Henry Berghauer and married Jean-Claude Cathalan, a manager at Roussel Uclaf at the time. He later became the president of Revillon, Parfums Caron, Jean-Louis Scherrer, and Comite Montaigne.

The couple had a daughter, Maxine Cathalan, who was kidnapped in Neuilly-sur-Seine when she was only 20 months old. She was taken right in front of her nurse. However, she was ransomed for 1.5 million Francs.

In 2003, the beautiful Hiroko Matsumoto passed away in Paris at the age of 67. According to her family, she had been hospitalized for a long time, but they did not disclose the cause of her death.
